Week At-A-Glance: 3-1 Thru 3-5

Announcements:

Pep Band: Pep Rally Tuesday & Wednesday, 3/2 & 3/3 to support our basketball teams in the substate tournament! We aren’t allowed to perform pep band indoors, so the band, cheerleaders and Lancer Dancers will be throwing a pep rally outside the main gym entrance as the teams and fans enter the building. Details:

  1. Report at 5pm. Attire: Jeans & Blue SME Band jackets (temp will be in the 50s). Warmup & rehearsal in courtyard outside band room.
  2. Perform for basketball teams & fans as they enter the building from 5:30-6:45pm
  3. Students will be finished and dismissed by 7pm
  4. All SMSD mitigation techniques (masks, bell covers, distancing, QR check-in form) must be strictly adhered to.

Parent Teacher Conferences: Due to the postseason basketball event, we will need to reschedule some conferences. If you’ve already signed up, we will reach out to you individually.   • Monday/Wednesday – IN-PERSON 1st Hour: Bring pep band instruments and music! Warm-up: Habits book. Music: Sheherazade, Spirit of the Falcon, Suite Divertimento. Recordings and music is available in Canvas modules.
  • Remote students follow along with rehearsal 1 day, complete asynchronous work the next.
  • Asynchronous students: Prescott Week 5 materials due Sunday 3/7. Practice along with rehearsal track recordings in canvas.
  • Friday 7p REMOTE: Cameras on, instruments out! Virtual rehearsal. Listen to recordings, makeup work

Music Theory

  • Tuesday/Thursday IN-PERSON: Continue analysis of cadences & nonharmonic tones. Introduction to part-writing. Ear training: Cadences & non-harmonic
  • Asynchronous assignment: Part writing assignment posted to canvas.
  • Friday: Continue form & analysis. Classical music forms, harmonic progressions, ear training
