Q: Tell us a little about yourself.
A: I’m a senior at East that plays the French Horn and marches with the Mellophone.

Q: Tell us about some things you like to do outside of band.
A: I enjoy theater and singing a lot.

Q: What have been some of your favorite classes?
A: Band, obviously, and this year I’m excited for psychology.

Q: Do you have any fond band memories, and if so what are they?
A: During band camp, the first time we went out to lunch I was forced to sit alone with Sophie Rice and we had a very awkward conversation, but now we’re pretty good friends.

Q: What made you decide to join band? Why did you choose the French Horn?
A: In 5th grade, the band people came to Prairie and I’m not sure what it was, but playing an instrument seemed very fun, and it is.

Q: Since you’re a senior, what has personally been your favorite marching show?
A: Probably the Jazz show because that show ranked the highest at the competition out of the past three years, but I’ve enjoyed the music this year a lot.

Q: What has been your favorite piece that you’ve gotten to play in band?
A: Definitely "The Witch and the Saint" because there was a French Horn solo, even though I messed it up at the concert.

Q: What’s your favorite music genre? Can you give us some of your all time favorite songs?
A: I don’t like a specific genre, but I really enjoy Mariah Carey. My favorite song of all time is "My All" by her.

Q: What valuable insights, if any, have you learned from being in band? Anything you’d like to share?
A: Don’t talk during band, it’s really annoying, and learn as many instruments as you can because a lot of adults have said they wish they’d played an instrument in high school.

Q: What makes band special to you?
A: I’m the only one in my family that plays an instrument and some of my closest friends I met in band.
