Hybrid Learning Week 1
We are so excited to see the students! All students and parents, please read and refer to the following documents in regards to hybrid learning procedures
NO EXTERIOR BAND ROOM ENTRY THIS WEEK. Please enter through the doorways outlined in the email.
Marching Band
- Monday & Wednesday — Marching Band Pictures:
- PEC sports will be here to take pictures of the marching band during 1st hour. They will take pictures individually, and then create a mosaic of all the students so we can have a group picture without huddling close together like usual. I am working with the company today to finalize procedures so we can capture the group, as well as individuals, as safely as possible.

- Attire: Seniors will wear their marching uniforms that they wore for senior night.
- Attire for grades 9-11: SME Band Jacket – the windbreaker – and Beatles show shirt, dark jeans or pants. No exceptions or substitutions of any kind, like sweatshirts or other SME-themed gear. For those freshmen or members who have not received the show shirt and jacket, we have them available. They are FREE for freshmen/new members, or available purchase if a new size is needed or items have been lost. Shirts are $5 and jackets are $20.
- Shots: Students will need their instrument, proper attire, and will have their individual photos taken. If you want a group picture – Drum Majors, Saxophone section, drumline, etc…you will need to indicate that on the form and they will work it in virtually. Please communicate that with the photographers when you are getting your picture taken
- We will have two separate stations in separate locations (auditorium, ensemble room) to ensure safe distancing for each student. When not getting their picture taken, students will be in their seats and/or lined up 6 feet apart. We want to capture the moment for these kids, but be as safe as possible while doing it.
- Makeup sessions for students absent are currently being planned. We will update you ASAP.
- Friday: Remote — record KMEA auditions, makeup work, practice pep band music
- KMEA District audition students– check your school email for the sign-up genius link sent by Ms. Babcock, and sign up for a time to audition
- KMEA audition music cuts will come out on 10/28

- Small Ensemble & Scale Work
- KMEA District audition students– check your school email for the sign-up genius link sent by Ms. Babcock, and sign up for a time to audition
- KMEA audition music cuts will come out on 10/28
Jazz Bands Week-At-A-Glance
- Pictures for Cadet Band & Jazz Bands will be taken second semester
- Dominant 7th & Minor 7th arpeggio work
- KMEA District audition students– check your school email for the sign-up genius link sent by Ms. Babcock, and sign up for a time to audition
- KMEA audition prep in-person and remotely this week. We will also record during class TBA
- Practice “Blame it on the Blues” (Notes) and “One For Daddy-O”
