SEPTEMBER 6, 2026

LANCER DAY & PV JAZZ FESTIVAL WEEK!

• Monday: No School — Labor Day

• Tuesday: 7am MB Rehearsal — Lancer Day Prep (Normal EVEN Day)

• Wednesday: 7am–1st Hour Rehearsal (Normal ODD Day)

• Thursday: 7am Rehearsal & Truck/Trailer Load-Out — MARCH HALLS @ 8:30am with Dance/Cheer, Shortened Lancer Day Schedule, Parade, and Football Game (details below)

• Friday: NO ZERO HOUR — Rehearsal 7:40–9:15 (Normal ODD Day)

• Saturday: Prairie Village Jazz Festival — Blue Knights perform @ 3pm (Harmon Park; sound check @ 1:15pm)

LANCER DAY VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

LANCER DAY DETAIL ITINERARY

• 7am — Zero Hour Rehearsal

• 8am — Load trailer (front ensemble) and U-Haul (props and parade items). The trailer will stay at SME; the U-Haul will go to the Village to transport large instruments and gear after the parade.

• 8:30am — March SME hallways with Cheer & Dance

• 8:40am — 2nd Hour Begins (shortened schedule — see here)

• 11:35am–12:30pm — Lunch & parade prep. Change into the ROCKSTAR theme for the parade (students: ask your section leaders for your section’s specific costume theme) or BLUE BAND SHIRTS, BLACK SHORTS, BLACK SOCKS & MARCHING SHOES.

• 12:30pm — Begin lining up for the parade in the SME parking lot (in the grass off Mission Road by the main entrance)

• 1pm — Parade begins

• 1:30–1:45pm (approx.) — Band arrives at the clock tower in the PV Shops; parent volunteers distribute water and snacks

• 2pm (approx.) — Perform for the pep rally at the clock tower

• After Rally — Load the U-Haul with percussion, large instruments, and equipment. Students walk back or ride together. Think ahead and stage a car in the Shops before Thursday morning rehearsal if you can.

• 2:40–4:45pm — BREAK; BAND ROOM CLOSED. School buses run normal routes. Please rest, eat dinner, and change before the 5pm call time.

• 5pm — Report to SME, change into UNIFORMS, and CHECK ALL ITEMS (heat permitting). Load buses and final equipment on the U-Haul.

• 5:30pm — Buses arrive at SM North. Unload the truck and trailer; stage front ensemble and props.

• 6:30pm — Assemble for pregame

• 6:50pm — Pregame

• 7pm — Game begins

• 7:45pm (or with 10 minutes on the second-quarter game clock) — Volunteers assist with front ensemble and props

• 8pm — Halftime performance

• After Halftime — Volunteers and front ensemble help load equipment

• After Game — Load buses and return to SME; unload props at the loading dock

PRAIRIE VILLAGE JAZZ FESTIVAL — SEPTEMBER 12, HARMON PARK

• The Blue Knights Jazz Ensemble kicks off the festival with a performance at 3pm!

• The City of Prairie Village is asking for adult and student volunteers. See the PVJF SignUpGenius for more information. Volunteers receive free entry and a T-shirt.
