CUTTIME HELP

CutTime is the SM East Lancer Bands portal for personalized band information and action items. Families use it to review announcements, see student-specific events, complete forms and signatures, sign up for volunteer opportunities, check assigned inventory, and view or pay balances.

START HERE

Guardian and student accounts do not use a password. They use a private “magic link” connected to the phone number or email address on file.

  1. Go to app.gocuttime.com/login.
  2. Choose Guardian or Student.
  3. Enter the cell phone number or email address connected to the CutTime account.
  4. Open the magic link sent by text or email.
  5. Enter the verification code if prompted.
  6. Choose the student and the SM East band program.
  7. Bookmark the magic link or add it to the phone’s home screen for easier access later.

Keep magic links and verification codes private. A magic link works like an account ID and password combined.

QUICK LINKS

WHICH SOURCE SHOULD I USE?

Band website: Use the website calendar and announcement archive as the easiest programwide reference.

CutTime: Use CutTime for information connected to a specific student: assigned events, volunteer opportunities, forms, signatures, inventory, costs, payments, and fundraising.

CutTime messages: Messages may arrive by text or email, but they are one-way notifications. Do not reply to a CutTime message expecting the band staff to receive it.

If two sources appear to conflict, check the newest band announcement and contact the band staff for clarification.

WHAT CAN I FIND IN CUTTIME?

  • A history of band announcements
  • Events assigned to the student’s groups
  • A personal calendar-subscription link
  • Volunteer opportunities connected to events
  • Forms and signature requests
  • Financial balance, costs, payments, and receipts
  • Assigned instruments, attire, music, or equipment
• Fundraising and cost-sharing options when enabled

CUTTIME FAQ

I do not know my password. What should I do?

Guardians and students do not use a CutTime password. Go to app.gocuttime.com/login, choose Guardian or Student, and request a new magic link using the phone number or email address on file.

I requested a magic link but did not receive one.

Allow up to two minutes for the message to arrive. Confirm that you chose the correct account type and entered the phone number or email address already connected to your account. Check spam or junk mail if you used email.

If the link still does not arrive, contact the band staff. Include the guardian name, student name, and the phone number or email address that should be on the account. Do not send anyone your magic link or verification code.

Why am I receiving the same announcement more than once?

This usually means the same contact information is attached to more than one CutTime record or recipient group. Please do not unsubscribe, because that can also stop needed login and account notifications. Send the band staff the guardian name, student name or names, and the duplicated phone number or email address so the records can be reviewed.

I have more than one student. Do I need more than one account?

No. One guardian account can be connected to multiple students and programs. After opening the magic link, the My Students screen should list each connected student and program. If a student is missing—or the same student appears more than once—contact the band staff for a record correction.

Can I reread an older announcement?

Yes. Open the magic link, choose the student and SM East band program, and select an announcement on the program dashboard to view the announcement history. The Band Announcement Archive is also available without navigating the CutTime portal.

Can I reply to a CutTime text or email?

No. CutTime announcements and system notifications are one-way. Use the band staff’s normal contact information when you need a response.

How do I add my student’s events to my calendar?

Open the guardian dashboard and select Calendar Links, then copy the personal calendar URL. This calendar includes only events assigned to that student. Google Calendar subscriptions must be added from a desktop browser; Apple Calendar and Outlook can also subscribe to the link.

For the complete programwide schedule, use the SM East Lancer Bands Calendar.

Where are volunteer opportunities?

Open the student’s SM East program dashboard and look under the applicable event or volunteer section. Volunteer opportunities only appear when they are connected to an event and assigned to the relevant group. If a signup appears in a student view but not a guardian view—or does not appear at all—report the event name and student name to the band staff.

How do I make a payment or download a receipt?

Open the magic link, choose the student and program, select Payments, and then choose Make a Payment. Depending on the available options, a guardian may pay the full balance, past-due amount, a partial amount, or selected costs. The confirmation screen includes an option to download a receipt. Card payments may include a displayed convenience fee; Apple Pay or Google Pay may also be available.

Where are forms and signature requests?

Outstanding forms and signature requests appear on the student or program dashboard. You may need to scroll down to see them. CutTime form responses cannot be edited after submission. Contact the band staff if a submitted response needs correction.

I stopped receiving CutTime texts.

CutTime normally sends guardian and student notifications by text when a phone number is on file. If you previously replied STOP, reply START or UNSTOP in the original CutTime message thread. If email is also on file, CutTime may switch notifications to email.

If both text and email notifications have been disabled, contact the band staff so the account can be reviewed. Avoid unsubscribing solely to fix duplicate messages; ask for the duplicate records to be corrected instead.

What information should I send when asking for help?

Please include:

  • Guardian’s full name
  • Student’s full name and band group
  • Phone number or email address that should be on the CutTime account
  • A short description of what was expected and what happened
  • The name of the event, form, announcement, or cost involved
  • A screenshot, if helpful, with private links or verification codes hidden

Never send a magic link or verification code to another person.
